The goal of the Toyota FTSX concept is to have the space and ride height of an SUV with the comfort, handling, and efficiency of a sedan. Pivoting the upper and lower halves of the hatch up or down, respectively, can make access to the cargo area. When the lower part of the hatch is down, a loading tray automatically extends to aid with cargo loading and unloading.
